FAQ

Where is your office located?

My office address is 2222 2nd Ave, Kearney, NE 68847. It is in the building with Small Cakes, so you can treat yourself to a cupcake after the session (or before) if you’d like! It is on the opposite side of the building, though.

What are your hours?

My hours vary, so it is best to make an appointment at a time that suits our schedules.

Where do I park my car?

You can park on the West side of the building (the side facing the school) and enter through the only door on that side.

How long are sessions?

Sessions last 45 minutes to an hour, depending on the needs. The first session typically takes about an hour and a half, though.

Do you take insurance?

I take UHC, Molina, and Nebraska Total Care Medicaid insurance and private pay.

How do I set up an initial appointment?

Please call or email me!

What is your cancellation policy?

You must provide 24 hours in advance if possible. Life happens, and we understand, but we still want to be respectful and responsible.

What is your professional training and experience?

I have my master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Nebraska at Kearney. I have worked at home and in private practice, focusing on trauma and family systems with some training in ART and Somatic techniques.

What age ranges do you work with?

I work primarily with adolescents, adults, and some children and families.

Do you work with women? Men? Couples?

All of the above!

What do you do in sessions with clients?

It varies depending on need. There can be psychoeducation, talk-therapy, art, somatic exercises, just being present, work-sheets, practicing coping skills, challenging negative thoughts and beliefs, etc.

Do your clients receive assignments to work on between sessions?

Sometimes! The more work you put in outside of session, the quicker you reach your goals!

What modalities do you use in your work with clients?

I use CBT, DBT, Somatic techniques, systematic therapy, exposure therapy, art, etc., depending on what techniques are helpful to the situation and person.

How do I get the most out of working with you?

Meet in the middle. “Success is dependent on effort.” – Sophocles

Do I need to know what to say before I come in?

Nope! I will have plenty of questions for you. I actively participate by listening actively and thoughtfully.

Do you give me homework?

Sometimes! Practice doesn’t mean perfect here. We don’t do perfection, but practice outside of the session truly does help.

Is it okay to cry? Laugh? Get mad? Be silent?

Yes! All of those actions are human, and they are part of the healing process.

How long will therapy take?

Therapy is not a “one size fits all,” so it depends on the issues you strive to address and how much work is put into your growth.

Will your huskies be at the office?

Unfortunately, no. They shed a lot, and some people have allergies to pets, so I keep them home, but they will cheer you on from a distance!

Do I have to talk about my dreams?

Only if you feel like they are essential in your healing journey!
