Trauma Recovery

Trauma keeps the past in the present.

You’ve been carrying traumatic experiences that changed you, maybe in ways you’ve never fully spoken out loud.

For some, those experiences might have been life-threatening, as a result of violence, accidents, sexual assault, or war. Such events can leave one feeling helpless.

Perhaps you are dealing with serious personal conflicts with a spouse or family member. It may be that you are struggling with a job loss, a significant illness, or a life change. Although these experiences are not life-threatening, they still represent disruptions in one’s life.

Such traumatic experiences have a way of staying with you, making you stay on the alert for the off chance that another traumatic experience will occur.

The consequences create emotional upheaval.

Trauma can linger in the body and mind long after the event has passed.

You might feel stuck, hyperaware, shut down, or easily overwhelmed. Emotionally, you may fear forming relationships, feel anxious, or be depressed.

On the outside, you may look “fine,” while internally navigating memories, triggers, or emotional numbness. An event happens, and suddenly you are reliving that event, which causes your heart rate to increase and makes it difficult to breathe.

Moving forward may seem impossible, and this is where therapy can provide valuable support.

Therapy can help you live in the present.

One important thing to remember is that you are not broken. Your system is trying to protect you.

In trauma therapy, we move at your pace. I help you understand your nervous system, build stability, and process what happened so it no longer holds the same power over your daily life. You will learn ways to cope, allowing you to recover from the past traumatic experience.

Healing doesn’t mean forgetting. It means reclaiming yourself. With the proper support, you can experience less reactivity, more safety in your body, and a renewed sense of control and possibility.

Don’t let trauma keep you in the past.

It will take time, and as your therapist, I will walk by your side as you navigate the traumatic experience. The good news is that trauma therapy can make a difference, as you learn to process and overcome the effects of that event.

If you’re ready to move from surviving to living, I’m here. Your healing can begin with a single, quick consultation.
